The Skeptix Live At CBGBs DVD
From the wastelands of Stoke come forth The Skeptix and an audio visual record
of their 2003 US tour including the main event gig at CBGBs in NYC.
Although I like to watch live bands and their live shows captured on video,
what I like about this DVD is the extra footage of the band on tour from city
to city, their exploits, good times and song extracts from their other shows.
There are a generous 55 chapters to get through covering songs, journeys,
interviews, fans etc., so theres plenty to keep you pulling this back
off the shelf to watch. Ush (presently living outside the UK), Fish, Chig
and Snotty deliver their songs in true Skeptix style fast with fire
and passion. A good proportion of the bands repertoire is on film so
you wont be disappointed song wise. The Skeptix are a great band from
a great era in UK punk rock who still fire on all cylinders even today. This
tour DVD does justice to a great band. ukNige OWS / SICK56 Sep05
A fine purchase, after reading Ush"s
memoires on the cd, we now get the visuals so it all falls into place. With
all the past gems as a soundtrack and helpful script on the screen ie - venues,
characters and hairdo"s you miss nowt, maaaan.
Each gig footage is well good quality, professionally delivered and the punters
love it , the front row singing along with gusto and fists in the air a plenty.
And dont they all look youthful ,(not the band) barely old enuff to have grass
on the pitch.
Cbgb"s is smart and leaves its buzz on Chig especially .Throughout the
various live footage (you get all the cb show and snippets of more) the rabble
is awesome dooood, the odd invasion occurs nicely particularly when young
Snotty displays his knockers to all and gets a sloppy one from some dribbling
Doris .All the road footage is quite amusing esp: the three man piss stop
Snotty going super fast to drain them spuds. There are various shots of the
band attending the screen printers and distro"s across the land and some
glass walker , thought he should"ve dived ass first onto these shards
of certain pain, big poof.Yup this dvd has it all humour ,abuse, boredom with
the endless jaunts and attacks verbally( one brain celled ......twat )and
physically on the buxom vocalist himself- poor lad. Also has a really heavy
in depth interview from some mag-zine ,arf, arf.Throughout the driver commentates
on the previous gig with much jolly-japes amusing the lads constantly ,titter, titter. We
explore the country with the buggers with Mr Fish as the camera man , you
can really live it baby. I urge you to watch in two sittings as its a marathon
suckers and plays yer piles up to buggery.
Low points include the footy shirts on snotty and chig -- high points they
dont get there asses out GET IT DOOODS.
